Sealed Room II

In the second sealed room, special protective clothing, intended to prevent the skin cells and hair of the researcher from getting into the laboratory, is put on. This protective clothing is a one-piece suit with hood, mouth protection, overshoes, gloves and a visor that covers the eye area. On putting on the suit, it is important to ensure that the outer surface of the suit does not come into contact with the skin. The gloves are replaced by a new pair after putting on the protective clothing, as they will have come into contact with the skin during the process of putting the suit on. Before entering the laboratory, a second pair of gloves will be put on over this first pair, in order to be able to change gloves in the pre-PCR laboratory without exposing the hands.

Further, Sealed Room II serves as a transfer station for most of the laboratory requirements. These materials, following surface cleansing in the first room of the sealing chamber are stored in Seal II. Before they are used these materials are irradiated in the UV room with UV light before they can be used in the pre-PCR laboratory.
