The aim of my dissertation (German summary) was a revision of the genus Melastoma (Melastomataceae). This included a reconstruction of the phylogenetic relationships within related paleotropical genera. The dataset comprised morphological, anatomical and molecular characters. For detailed information, please have a look at my Melastoma page.

1969 I was born in Göttingen, a small but nice town in the south of Lower Saxony (Niedersachsen). There I went to school, and 1988 I started to study biology at the Georg-August-University, Göttingen. After getting my diploma in 1995 I moved to Mainz for my dissertation which I finished in September 1999.
Since March 2000 I am attending a SAP-course (Junior Consultant SAP R/3 Process Industry) at the GIB, Mainz, that will end in December 2000.
Among several hobbies such as photography and aquaristics, I spend most time in reading books (preferrably popular sciences and science fiction/fantasy) and with cycling. Therefore I am active in our local ADFC-group to promote cyclist-friendly politics.
