Arrival by plane

Mainz university is most conveniently reached by Frankfurt Airport. From Frankfurt Airport (Terminal 1 - Regionalbahnhof) take the train S8. The trains depart every 30 minutes and take 26 minutes to reach Mainz Main Station. The ticket is 4.10 Euro and can be obtained at the ticket machine.

Arrival by train

The closest train station is Mainz Main Station ("Hauptbahnhof"). Most buses heading towards university are departing at terminal "F" and "G" in front of the Main Station (as marked on the map). To reach us, terminal "G" is the most convenient.

At terminal "G" take one of the following bus lines:

Line 9 (direction "Isaac-Fulda-Allee")
Line 54 (direction "Lerchenberg/Brucknerstraße")
Line 55 (direction "Finthen/Theodor-Heuss-Straße")
Line 58 (direction "Wackernheim")
Line 68 (direction "Lerchenberg/Hindemithstraße")




The bus ride takes about 5 min ("Hauptbahnhof" -> "Hauptbahnhof West" -> "Universität -> "Friedrich-von-Pfeiffer-Weg" ") and costs 1.60 Euro (short-distance ticket "Kurzstrecke"), which can be paid in the bus directly. In the morning, you will not wait longer than 3 min for the next bus to come.
From the bus stop "Friedrich-von-Pfeiffer-Weg" proceed to the "Duesbergweg 10 - 14" by foot.

The bus stop "Friedrich-von-Pfeiffer-Weg" is the bus stop close to the name "Wittichweg" at the top of the map with the bridge across the street "Saarstraße".

Arrival by car

When coming from the Western direction

(i.e. from direction Bonn/Köln) follow the Autobahn A60 to the interchange “Autobahn-Dreieck Mainz” in direction to Darmstadt. Leave the Autobahn at the exit “Mainz-Finthen”, follow the traffic sign “Saarstraße/Innenstadt” straight through to the traffic circle “Europaplatz” and leave at the exit “Universität”.

 

When coming from the Eastern direction

(i.e. from direction Würzburg/Darmstadt) follow the Autobahn A60 to the interchange “Autobahn-Dreieck Rüsselsheim” or, when coming from the A63 to the interchange “Autobahnkreuz Mainz” where you change to the A60 in direction to Bingen. Leave the Autobahn at the exit “Mainz-Finthen”, follow the traffic sign Saarstraße/Innenstadt” straight through to the traffic circle “Europaplatz” and leave at the exit “Universität”.

 

When coming from the Northern direction  

(i.e. from direction Kassel) follow the Autobahn A66 and change at the “Schiersteiner Kreuz” to the A 643 in direction to Mainz. Then follow the Autobahn to the interchange “Autobahn-Dreieck Mainz” where you change to the A 60 in direction to Darmstadt. Leave the Autobahn at the exit “Mainz-Finthen”, follow the traffic sign “Saarstraße/Innenstadt” straight through to the traffic circle “Europaplatz” and leave at the exit “Universität”.
