Professor Dr. Manfred Schmidt is Professor at the Institute of Physical Chemistry, University Mainz, since 1995. Ph.D. degree in Polymer Science at the University Freiburg 1980 (Prof. W. Burchard). Feodor Lynen Fellow of the Alexander Humboldt Stiftung with Prof. W. H. Stockmayer, Dartmouth College, Hanover, NH-USA, 1980 – 1981. DFG-Fellow at the Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry, University Freiburg from 1981-1984 and Research Assistant at the Max-Planck-Institute of Polymer Science, Mainz, from1984-1991. Habilitation in Physical Chemistry 1989, University Mainz. Fiebiger Professor of Macromolecular Chemistry at the University Bayreuth, from 1991-1995. Research interests: Supramolecular Chemistry of Polymers, polymer characterization, particularly scattering techniques, polyelectrolytes.
