Expert in T cell immunology, especially T-helper cell differentiation and
murine/human regulatory T cell characterization. In close collaboration with the Department
of Dermatology (HD Dr. H. Jonuleit) our group is intensively involved in the characterization
of human Tregs and also in functional in vivo and in vitro studies on murine Tregs. In parallel,
we are analyzing the regulation of mast cell-derived cytokine production, especially IL-4, IL-9
and IL-13. Specific skills of our group include: Large scale preparation of murine Tregs,
manipulation of Tregs in vitro via co-stimuli and activated DC, molecular analysis of Tregs,
adoptive Transfer of Tregs, RNAi-studies, SSH-studies, CHIP-technology, characterization of
potential Tregs isolated from several transgenic and knock out mice, expression and
purification of relevant proteins, generation of polyclonal and monoclonal antibodies.
