Since January 2010 SORC offers research grants to Ethiopian scholars enrolled in postgraduate programs of Ethiopian universities. It is designed to encourage research that involves extended fieldwork in South Omo Zone.
1. Requirements
The MA/PhD research should be carried out in South Omo Zone
A thesis/dissertation topic approved/accepted by a graduate studies program
A Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.5 and above in course work
The researcher should not receive funds from sources other than his/her institution
Minimum stay in the research site: 60 days for MA students and 300 days for PhD students
2. Financial rewards
MA students: 4,500 ETB
PhD students: 15,000 ETB

Letter from a department or a graduate program stating that the student completed course works and that his/her research proposal has been accepted
