The university is divided into departments, each of which is divided again into institutes or seminaries. With the exception of the Department for Applied Linguistics and Cultural Science (FASK) at Germersheim, all departments are located on the central campus or in downtown Mainz. On campus, there are also two bookstores, several stationery shops, a small super market, a post office, a number of dining halls and cafeterias, several restaurants, a large sports facility, an indoor pool, and a very noteworthy botanical garden.
