Practical Tips for EU Proposals
In the European programs, you must always wait for calls for proposals before you may submit an application. Current calls for proposals can be viewed at FIT für die Wissenschaft; Calls for proposals for the 7th Framework Program for Research can be viewed here. Each European line of funding has its own application requirements of which the EU Liaison Office will be happy to inform you. Details of the calls for proposals may differ greatly depending on their specifics and requirements. All specific instructions and guidelines (Call Fiche, Work Program, Guide for Applicants) regarding applications must therefore be read carefully before submitting a proposal. Please note that submission deadlines are to be meticulously observed. Applications in FP7 can only be submitted electronically, as the submission web portal closes immediately on expiry of the deadline. Most of the European lines of funding have well-developed federal government advisory services at the national contact points. The European Liaison Office of the German Research Organizations (KOWI) also provides well-structured advisory services. General information regarding applications has been compiled by the BMBF EU office in the form of a brochure, which is available under “Downloads” in the right-hand column. Please do not hesitate to contact the EU Liaison Office should you have any further questions concerning your application!
Specific information for proposals from Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (JGU)
The PIC of JGU is 999978627.
JGU accounts for funding in FP7 by means of the so-called simplified method (for the calculation of indirect costs). Please get into contact with the EU Liaison Office for your budget calculation. You will receive budgeting templates and detailed explanations as to how to carry out a reasonable calculation of your project budget!
