Gutenberg Research College (GRC)

The Gutenberg Research College (GRC) of the Johannes Gutenberg University (JGU) was established in 2007 in the context of the first phase of the Excellence Initiative by the German federal and state governments. The GRC has since served as the major strategic instrument for the facilitation and further development of cutting-edge research and the cross-disciplinary linking of research focuses at JGU. It therefore largely contributes to the overall profile building of the university.

The Executive Committee of the GRC with its interdisciplinary membership constellation advises the Office of the President of JGU on development strategies for the university. Despite its advisory function, the GRC promotes individual excellence by awarding fellowships to excellent researchers at JGU and other institutions with the objective of attracting outstanding researchers to Mainz.
