Promotion of Proposals for EU Projects
As a rule, European research funding programs require at least three project partners from three European countries; usually, the submitting consortia are significantly larger than this. Since the effort to prepare and coordinate proposals at European level is correspondingly high, researchers at JGU receive for their preparatory work, on presentation of EU application documents, a sum of € 500 per proposal.
Furthermore, when planning an EU collaborative project, applications to this funding line can help finance, for example, preparatory trips. If the coordination of an EU collaborative proposal is performed in Mainz, staff resources can be additionally applied for in order to optimize the prospects of success during the complex and costly proposal procedure. Further funding is available for project meetings in Mainz and surrounding areas or for the editing of proposals.
Finally, the participation of researchers at JGU in the EU review procedures is to be encouraged through a lump sum of € 600. The same applies to regular board activities in the service of the EU (e.g., participation in strategic technology platforms or expert consultation workshops).
