Technology and Knowledge Scouting
The Verbund der Wissens-und Technologietransferstellen der Universitäten in Rheinland-Pfalz has begun to establish and implement technology and knowledge-scouting at all participating universities in order to facilitate new projects between universities and businesses and other personae involved in innovation processes over the long-term. The scouts are to identify existing technology and know-how potentials at the universities in a targeted way and systematically prepare these for their assignment to appropriate tasks. At the same time, the scouts are responsible for visiting regional businesses and personae in order to investigate their research requirements and information needs and to create a network of innovation leaders in an academic environment. The increase in university know-how is to serve specific areas of competence corresponding to the joint focus of universities and experts from all over Germany. The first two data collection phases will cover the topics "Materials Sciences" and "Information and Communication Technology / Media." After a competence field has been entirely covered, the data will be "clustered" in order to make the specific national competencies visible and communicable. The project results provide structured information through which regional player potentials can be recognized and the innovation process moderated in a targeted way.
