The Vice Presidents

Two Vice Presidents assist and deputize for the President in the exercise of his responsibilities. There is a schedule of responsibilities that specifies their areas of responsibility and their deputization duties. At time of being elected, the Vice Presidents must be members of the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, hold a university degree, and have several years' professional experience in a responsible position. They are either nominated by the President or – assuming that the President relinquishes this right – by the University Council and appointed to the office for four years by the Senate. Vice Presidents can be reappointed, yet they may not be voted out of office.
