The integration of a university of music and an academy of art in a university is unique in Germany. Mainz University of Music and Mainz Academy of Arts serve the purposes of teaching, studying and cultivating the arts including music and art education and the advancement of junior artists. They develop abilities in artistic creation. They advance public awareness of musical and cultural issues, for instance by organizing concerts and exhibitions.
