Subject Matter
The program's content, which focuses on politics and law, teaches knowledge of European politics, institutions and law.
A special feature of this Master's program is that participants live together for one year in three countries and study three languages.
Master's Entrance Requirements
Study programs and admission requirements (pending approval by the university committees).
A Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Political Science, Law, Economics, Media Studies or Communication Studies, Sociology, History or Philosophy or in Cultural Studies awarded by an institute of higher education in Germany or abroad.
The qualification must demonstrate that the applicant has acquired at least 65 CPs in Political Science or Law.
English language skills at at least level B2, documented in the form of
a) A university entrance qualification acquired from an English-speaking institute of higher education or
b) A degree in an English language subject or
c) The First Certificate in English (University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations) or higher level (Advanced (CAE) or Proficiency (CPE)) or
d) An IELTS (International English Language Testing System) test certificate showing a score of at least 5.5 points or
e) A TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) certificate; 213 (computer-based test, CBT), 79 (internet-based test, IBT) or 550 (paper-based test, PBT).
The date of the test may not be more than three years prior to the date of the end of the admissions period. The post responsible for the admission and enrollment of the applicant shall be responsible for ensuring compliance with admission requirements.
French language skills at at least level B2; this must be documented in the form of a corresponding certificate or a final grade of 'adequate' or 5 points awarded on completion of a four-year course of study at school. If, at time of submission of the application, the applicant can demonstrate that they have French language skills at level B1 documented in the form of a corresponding certificate or a grade of at least 'adequate' or 5 points awarded on completion of a three-year course of study at school, they will be required to demonstrate that they have reached level B2, at the latest, on commencement of their third semester by submitting a corresponding certificate or by successfully passing a language admissions test set by the Université de Bourgogne in Dijon. Students will otherwise be unable to continue on the program and their admission will be canceled.
Applicants will not be required to provide evidence of their German language skills.
In order to enable all partner universities to verify that admission requirements have been met, all documents are to be submitted in English (or together with attested English translations). The qualifications of applicants need to be recognized by all three partner universities as meeting the admission requirements for the European Studies Master's degree program in accordance with their national requirements.
To be enrolled in a later semester on starting the program, applicants must demonstrate that they have already acquired the study and examination qualifications stipulated for the prior program semester from one of the partner universities or that their qualifications have been correspondingly recognized by one of the partner universities. If the relevant documentation is not yet available although the corresponding requirements have been met, applicants may be appropriately enrolled on the proviso that they submit the documentation by a date specified in their letter of admission.
