Students with children
Family Services Center

Advice for parents is offered by the
Family Services Center of Mainz University, which serves as a central contact point for parent students and researchers. You can contact us if you have questions about childcare facilities, financial aspects or other aspects concerning compatibility.
Parent/child room
The
parent-child room is in the new Physics/Mathematics/Psychology building, Staudingerweg 9, 2nd floor - Room 120, on the university campus. In addition to baby changing facilities, cribs, and toys, there are also three work stations available at present.
Childcare in emergency and exceptional circumstances
Since January 1, 2009, JGU has made the back-up services provided by pme Familienservice GmbH available to students with children. The carers will look after children aged between 8 weeks and 12 years on an hourly or daily basis, including evenings and weekends. JGU will assume all costs of the emergency childcare services. However, please note that there is a limit to the number of days on which this service may be utilized. For more information, visit
here.
Childcare facilities
On the campus and in the immediate vicinity, crèches, kindergartens, and child day-care centers are available for children of JGU students. For a current list of all childcare facilities, please contact the
Family Services Center.
Child minder network
In addition to the various care facilities, the university also offers a child minder finding service ("Familienkrippen-Netz") for parents who study or work at JGU. Assuming that their income does not exceed the specified limit, the university will pay a part of the cost of the child minder service. The minders will care for children for a maximum of 20 hours per week. Please contact the
Family Services Center for more information.
