Admission and Departure Preparations

Have you already sent out an Application for a Course of Study as an Exchange Student to JGU? If you fulfill all requirements, your application will usually be accepted. A written Letter of Admission will be sent to you via post to your home address. The letter of admission is sent from mid June through mid September for the winter semester, and from mid December through mid March for the summer semester respectively.

This letter will also contain information as to the day of your enrolment at Mainz University, and other important details for the preparation of your studies in Mainz (for example information regarding the Student Exchange Info-Days). Please note that there will be no other confirmation of acceptance than the letter mentioned here – you will not be allowed to enrol without this Letter of Admission, so be sure to bring it along to Germany.

You will have to come to JGU in person to enrol. If you cannot make the date specified in your letter of admission, you will definitely have to send a written message to the International Office (by mail, or by e-mail). The enrolment formalities can only be carried out in Mainz.

As soon as you have received your Letter of Admission and as soon as you have applied for a dorm room (please note, again, that you have to apply simultaneously for a course of study and a dorm room!), you can prepare your departure:
