Humanities

In the integrated German-French course, students spend part of their time at JGU and part of their time at the partner university in Dijon; they graduate with both a German and French degree. Two trinational courses are also available, one German-French-Italian course and one German-French-Canadian course.

I. Binational course Mainz–Dijon

Participating subjects German (German Studies), English (American Studies/British Studies), Geography, Latin, History, Philosophy, Romance Studies (Spanish/French/Italian), Comparative Studies/European Literature
Course/degrees Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Education in Mainz, and Licence in Dijon

II. Trinational course Mainz–Dijon–Bologna 

Please note that the University's integrated tri-national Study programm in cooperation with the University of Bologna will not be available for German students until the publication of examination regulations.

Conditions of participation

  • Good knowledge of the French language before starting the course. There is the opportunity for students to improve their language skills during the first year in specially organized courses.
  • An above-average will to succeed, a willingness to follow the strict timetable, flexibility, and initiative

Application

Alongside the standard application for a study place with the Student Office at the University of Mainz, an application must also be made to the Dijon office in accordance with the same deadlines (July 15 for the winter semester, January 15 for the summer semester). Detailed information on the documents to be submitted is available from the website of the Dijon office. The final acceptance onto the program takes place following selection interviews at the end of the  winter semester. The key aspect in this process is the performance of the student on the course to date.
