Preparatory program
During the first two years of study in Mainz, students complete a normal law degree, while also taking part in the preparatory program, which includes language courses, introductory courses to French law, an excursion to the partner universities, and a seminar comparing legal systems. The actual selection process for the integrated course does not take place until the summer semester prior to the stay abroad (i.e. usually in the fourth or sixth semester).

2. Magister iuris

- Basic studies course certificate in accordance with course requirements (information available from the Law Department's Master's Office)
- Participation on language courses and on an introductory course in the law of the country where the stay abroad will take place
- Selection process
Application
The selection process is based on the academic performance on the law course to date and in the preparatory events, as well as a selection interview held in the relevant foreign language.Students take part in the preparatory program as early as their basic studies. Not until the fourth semester can they apply to the Law Department's Master's Office to be accepted onto the Master's program.
Students interested in French law can complete the Magister iuris as part of the integrated German-French course in law. For this option, students must complete a special preparatory program in the first semester. Further information is available from the Law Department's International Office.
