Online application for degree-seeking and exchange students
1. Important information for all applicants
If you want to apply as a degree seeking graduate (i.e. Master) please follow this Link.Please note for all online application: your application is only valid if it is printed, signed and reaches the International Office at JGU before the deadline.
Once we received your application documents, your status in the online portal will change to “Empfangen” (=Received). This status will not change until your application is processed.

Opening an account: In order to apply through our online portal, you need to generate an account. Go to the top of the page in our web portal and click “Online-Bewerbung” (= online application). Then select “Account anlegen” (= generate account) on the left hand side. Please complete all required textboxes and send it. You will receive an email with your password. You can change this password right after your first login. If you already are a student at JGU and wish to submit an application to change your major, you do not need to create a new account. Just use the ZDV-account information you already have and click “Online-Bewerbung” in the taskbar.
Automatic logout: If your computer stays idle for 30 minutes during your online application, you will automatically log off. You will have to manually log in again; therefore, we recommend you save your progress regularly. Just click on the button “Speichern” (= Save).
System requirements: To successfully use the online application tool at JGU, you will need an internet browser not older than the following: Microsoft Internet Explorer 7, Mozilla Firefox 3, Apple Safari 3.
If you use other browsers, the application mask might not display properly. Please do not use the forward and back button of your browser because you might lose your already inserted data. Instead use the buttons “zurück” (= back) and “Weiter” (= continue) in the online portal. If you click on one of the browser buttons by accident, just press F5 to manually refresh the page.
If you are using a small monitor, the online documents will not fit entirely on your screen. In that case scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page to make sure you completed all the required information.
Permitted Characters for your Online Application: Please note that the textboxes of the online application allow you to use only the following characters (in upper and lower case): A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, X, Y, Z, Ä, Ö, Ü and 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 0. If you cannot use the characters Ä, Ö, Ü, ä, ö, ü you can substitute them with Ae, Oe, Ue, ae, oe or ue. If you are using characters that are not on this list, it might cause some problems with processing of your application.
Please enter your name as it appears on your passport.
The e-mail address you specify must be valid for the duration of the application procedure, i.e. until at least the start of lectures of the following semester.

2. Information for degree-seeking international applicants
If you would like to apply online at JGU you will be redirected to our student portal “JOGU-StINe.” In addition to the online application, you can also find the recent course catalog, which you can browse freely.To start the online application please click on “Bewerbung.” First you will be asked to create a new account. The email address which you use to generate the account will be your username, which you will need to log onto the application portal.
Before you start the application process, please download our guide book for degree seeking students, so you can look up the functions of the various buttons and how they affect your application.
During the online application process you can consult the FAQs at any time. Please check which documents (http://www.uni-mainz.de/studium/118_ENG_HTML.php) you need to have to complete the online application. If you want to take a break during your application process, you can save it and finish it later. Please note that it is not possible to edit or change your application after you have submitted it.
You can apply for up to two different degree programs. These applications do not need to be sent at the same time. You can submit an application for one degree program and later send one for another degree program. Each application has its own number. Please always use this application number when you contact us. If you have an inquiry concerning both applications please use both numbers (e.g. if you change your address).

3. Online application for exchange students

If you want to take a break during your application process, you can save it and finish it later. Please note that it is not possible to edit or change your application after you have submitted it. You can apply for a major, where you have to choose whether you would like to enroll at an undergraduate (Bachelor) or graduate level (Master). If you want to apply for the program at graduate level, you need to be already a graduate student at your home university.
Your application has its own number. Please always use this application number when you contact us about your application (e.g. when you change your address). Every official document (e.g. the letter of acceptance) will be sent to the address given on your application documents.
