Friends and Alumni

Contact with former students and teachers of Johannes Gutenberg University (JGU) is just as important to us as contact with the City of Mainz and the wider region:

In true university tradition, there are various friends and alumni associations that contribute to the networking of friends and former members of a particular department or institute in order to support such departments or institutes. In addition, the association Friends of Mainz University is open to anyone who wishes to support teaching and research at JGU without any unnecessary bureaucracy. It offers a lively network of contacts to all those who feel an attachment with the university.

The main aim of these friends and funding associations is maintaining contact with students and staff after they leave the university, including facilitating contact among former members of the university community, between such persons and the university as well as contact with the city and wider region. This should create a lasting connection between all those near and dear to JGU – whether they are students, graduates, teaching staff, other employees, those with a previous connection to the university, supporters and friends.
